Freshworks buys Israel's Robusta as CoStar, EnerSys strike $1B in deals

Freshworks is buying instead of building again, so Freshdesk customers should watch for Robusta's technology to show up in their product roadmap and pricing.

A dispatch from Dealroom

Freshworks' Robusta deal is an IT-operations bet, and for now it is only a plan

Freshworks has bought Robusta Dev Ltd., an Israeli startup whose AI investigates IT outages, identifies root causes and recommends fixes. CXO Digitalpulse reported the announcement from late October 2026, and InfotechLead listed it in a tech M&A roundup. Financial terms were not disclosed. Co-founders Natan Yellin and Arik Alon are joining Freshworks. It is the third acquisition Freshworks has moved on in 2026, after FireHydrant and Torii, and all three target its IT business. The Torii agreement was signed earlier in October.

What does Robusta actually add to Freshworks?

Robusta supplies an AI engine that investigates IT outages, finds probable root causes and recommends remediation. Freshworks plans to build it into Freshservice, its IT service management product.

The design described is that Robusta reads Freshservice's business service records, CMDB dependencies and change history to trace where a disruption started. Freshworks also intends to pair it with FireHydrant's incident orchestration. The aim is less time spent gathering evidence during an incident and fewer repeat outages.

Engineers are meant to review and approve any recommended change before it touches live systems. That is a sensible guardrail, but so far it is a stated design intent. Neither outlet describes how the approval flow works.

Does this matter if I buy Freshworks for customer support?

Not directly. The deal targets internal IT incidents rather than customer conversations, and neither outlet reports any change to customer-facing support or chat products.

The indirect signal is where the money is going. Three purchases in one year, all aimed at IT, show where Freshworks is putting its capital and engineering attention. If you run a support desk on Freshworks, ask whether that shifts the roadmap for your side of the business. Our earlier piece on Freshworks' Q3 earnings is a useful baseline for how the company talks about its priorities.

How far should I trust the faster-resolution claim?

Not far yet. The benefits are Freshworks' own projections. The coverage cites no customer results, benchmarks or timelines, and the integration is described as a plan.

Any "faster resolution" figure that eventually appears needs scrutiny. Ask who defines resolution, whether the vendor or the customer measured it, and on what mix of incidents. Root-cause tools are also only as good as the data they read. If your CMDB is stale or your change records are patchy, an AI that traces dependencies through them will reason from bad inputs. That caveat is ours, not the sources', but it is the first thing to test in a pilot.

What should I ask my vendor now?

Ask for a dated roadmap, the exact approval controls on AI-suggested changes, and whether this arrives as a bundled feature or a paid add-on. Those answers matter more than the announcement.

Also ask how three acquired products will be stitched into one workflow. FireHydrant, Torii and Robusta each came from a separate company, and the sources do not say how deeply any of them is integrated yet. Torii covers software and AI usage, licences and spending, so it sits in a different part of IT management from incident response. Ask for a live demonstration on your own data rather than a slide.

Frequently asked questions

How much did Freshworks pay for Robusta?

The price was not disclosed. Neither source gives a figure.

When will Robusta appear in Freshservice?

No date has been given. The sources describe the integration as planned, and product details and timelines are still to come.

Will AI change my production systems on its own?

Freshworks says engineers will review and approve recommended changes before they reach live systems. Ask how that approval step is enforced.
